The Kitsap Fire Academy
About
The Kitsap County Fire Academy began in 2022 and serves Kitsap County and the surrounding region emergency response agencies. The EMS portion of the Academy is 8 weeks long and precedes the Fire portion of the Academy that runs 15 weeks long. The Academy is a 5 day/week, 0700-1600 time commitment. Successful recruits will become Nationally Registered EMT-B's as well as Internationally certified through the IFSAC testing process and will earn: Firefighter 1, Hazardous Material Operations level, and Firefighter 2. Recruits can attend just the EMT class, just the Fire class or both classes depending on individual needs. The Academy also offers National Certification in Wildland firefighting at the NWCG Firefighter II level as an ala carte class in the summer.
** To be eligible to join the Academy you must be sponsored by an Emergency Response Agency**
